DJAMAL KHORRAMINEJAD

(1946-2011)

For artist Djamal Khorraminejad, an import motive to paint lies in the love of nature. “From my early childhood as I traveled to many different places with my father I found love for the natural world and its creator. I felt the greatness of the creator in the simple villages,  vast plains, jungles sparking my imagination and dreams. I could feel the uniqueness in the beauty of the natural environment around me. I have tried to portray all this beauty in my paintings.

His paintings in watercolor, oil, acrylic, pencil and mixed media capture the beauty of nature with the use of strong dynamic colors.

His painting expression wGas born out of his keen observation of the environment around him.

The artist was born in Tehran and received a Bachelor in Fine Arts with Honors from Tehran University in 1970. Khorraminejad continued in academia throughout his life as an Associate Professor of Art and Painting at Tehran University, Alzahra University, Azad University, The University of Science and Technology and the College of Arts.
Djamal spent his childhood immersed in art. Born in Tehran and spending his formative years there, any free moment he had was spent drawing in sketchbooks, on napkins, on walls, and anywhere his parents let him. His mother and father inspired and encouraged Djamal’s love of the arts and provided a childhood rich with inquiry and creativity. After graduating from university, Djamal worked as an illustrator, graphic designer, and painter. Djamal enjoyed visiting spending time with his students, and he felt very strongly about the importance of pursuing art and encouraging them in their goals.  Djamal was a passionate, thoughtful, and encouraging teacher who worked to ensure that each student was given appropriate individual attention and consideration for personal growth.

He also believed that art has the power to connect us all and had the potential to wash away the sadness and monotony of everyday life. He enjoyed working with different media such as ink, watercolors, charcoal, and collage.

His work covered a wide range of styles, from simple to heavy illustrated.

His work has been exhibited around the world.
